[Travel] 'Home' for Christmas

Ho, ho, ho! I left you exhausted in Uruguay. Now I am happy at home in
Cornwall, UK with the family:

Uruguay was almost a month ago. In that space of time I sweltered in
BsAs and tried to relive the good memories of when I was first there,
back in early September 2006. I hate how I dislike places, then I think
they weren't so bad, then I go back and I realise I actually *really* do
not like the place. For example the crappy streets in BsAs with loud
buses bombing out diesel fumes simply aren't pleasant:

So for the last week I escaped the heat of BsAs to the mountain resort
of Bariloche to meet Jamie:

The people we met at a hostel on the 10th story were interesting and the
view was amazing. http://flickr.com/photos/jamiekitson/320829449/
Though for the rest of the week the weather was terrible and neither
Jamie or I would dare go outside. I recall playing several games of
chess, with Jamie beating me eventually. Well done Jamie. Now he is in
Chile enjoying the sun and sand. :) http://twmcat.blogspot.com/

So I went through a punishing 3 day trip back to Cornwall, UK. Actually
I was very lucky. My flights were on time. My illegal cargo of Cuban
cigars for my Dad weren't discovered in New York. My flight landed in
thick fog which caused many other flights to be cancelled. I had a
wonderful stay in London with the Rossetti's overnight. Caught the
scenic "Great western" Penzance train down to Cornwall with a reserved
seat. The previous train was cancelled. The people I sat next to whilst
travelling were surprisingly good company! I arrived at prazefarm.co.uk
with the weather clear and crisp.

*And* I didn't get blown up by some terrorist plot! Yes, back to the
cruel fearsome reality of the UK. I love comparing my travel experiences
to tolerant multi-cultural England. Yesterday I had a dose of English
youth drinking culture. I unfortunately observed local festive drunken
degenerates whilst sober. They conversed with each other with phrases
like:

"Alright you cunt" "Arhghhgh... that tastes rank!" "Get me another shag"

"cunt" is a very rude word.
"rank" implies a bad taste.
"shag" is also a alcoholic beverage as well as a English sexual reference.

Very worrying.

And today, well today is Christmas. Classic dinner last night, this time
with guests so we were a little better behaved. However when they left,
we did proceed with an argument, like any other healthy dysfunctional
family.

Did I mention that I am going through a difficult time of my life right
now? It's true! I wonder now, what 'family' supposed to mean. What is
'home' too, supposed to mean. My identity is quite confused and some of
you might well be aware I am quite mad. Damn this travelling!! What now?

Ok, it is not so bad. Gosh, I am such a complainer! You can't take me
too seriously. Sometimes one has to forget about all that chaos and
enjoy the simple things of *not travelling*. Like a decent stable
Internet connection. Like a double bed with fine sheets and a feather
duvet. Like enjoying the home food and enjoying family life.

In the New Year I hope for a little stability in a life I still need to
put my mark on. I want to make something (e.g. money)! No more
travelling, I want the world revolve around me (probably in London). I
say that crap, though in reality I find myself already planning travel
adventures. Will it be Georgia, Finland, California or France next??

Happy travels, keep well and keep in touch,
